Why this matters
Most kanji tattoos are picked from a translation tool or a font app. The character looks beautiful. To anyone who can read it, the meaning is off — and ink doesn't come with an undo.
無料精神 — wanted “free spirit,” reads “no-charge, free-of-cost spirit.”
無料 is free as in costs nothing, like free admission — not free as in unbound. The word they wanted was 自由 (jiyū). Spelled perfectly; meaning gone.
辛せ — wanted 幸せ (shiawase), “happiness.”
幸 and 辛 differ by a single stroke. The character actually inked, 辛, means bitter, painful. One slip turns happiness into hardship.
愛 — “love.” The meaning is right.
But it was stencilled mirror-reversed, so the character reads backwards. The choice was correct; the execution gives it away instantly to a Japanese eye.
