Kanji Tattoos

Questions

Before you commit.

How do I know the translation is correct?

Every character is chosen and checked by a native speaker, and you receive notes explaining the meaning and reading of each one — so you understand exactly what you're carrying before anything is permanent.

Who actually checks my kanji? Are you really Japanese?

Yes. Every character is chosen and checked by hand by a native Japanese speaker — not software, not a template. Each design comes with notes on the character's meaning, reading, and nuance, drawn from a background in classical Japanese. You'll see that depth in the sample, and you're welcome to ask anything directly before you decide.

When do I pay, and how much?

The consultation is free. If you decide to go ahead, the verified character and tattoo-ready files are $49 — paid only after the consultation, never before. You're never charged just to ask.

What if I don't like the character you suggest?

Nothing is finalized until you confirm it. We propose the character and explain why; the design work only begins once you're happy. If it's not right, we keep talking — at no charge.

What exactly do I receive?

Your final design as high-resolution transparent PNG files (vector on request), plus written notes on the character, its nuance, and the script chosen — with our recommendation. Everything your artist needs, in one place.

Can my tattoo artist use the files directly?

Yes. The artwork is delivered clean and tattoo-ready as transparent files your artist can take straight to the stencil — and we can provide scalable vector files on request.

How long does it take?

Most consultations are completed within a few days. Because each piece is handled personally, timing depends on current volume — we'll confirm when you begin.

Can I get kana instead of kanji?

Absolutely. Names and sounds are often better suited to hiragana or katakana, and we'll recommend the right script for what you want to express.

What's your refund policy?

If we can't find a faithful way to express your meaning, we'll tell you honestly before any design work begins. Specific terms are set out in our policies, linked below.

Ink is permanent. Make sure it means what you think.

Start with a conversation. We'll handle the characters, the nuance, and the brush.
